How TRITA Started

Official Summary

The Tanzania Regional Immigration Training Academy (TRITA) is an education institution established by the Tanzania Immigration Services Department in December 2008.

Prior to the establishment of TRITA, Immigration officers were trained in other institutions such as Police Training Colleges, Prisons Colleges and National Service Camps.

In 1998, the Government of Tanzania acquired the building complex currently used by the Academy and joined the International Organization for Migration (IOM), leading to technical cooperation under the Capacity Building in Migration Management Project.

After major rehabilitation works, TRITA was officially opened on 12th December 2008 by the former Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Ali Mohamed Shein.

Today, TRITA delivers basic and tailor-made training programmes to Immigration officers, government institutions and private sector stakeholders, and is registered by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE).
